As a Chiropractor I evaluate and determine if there is nerve interference between the brain and the nervous system. The brain is the command center of the entire body. It’s job is to manufacture the chemicals correctly that run your whole body. These chemicals travel down the spinal cord to the spinal nerve roots and then to the peripheral nerves. It is through these chemicals the brain is able to make sure that the different parts of the body inside and out function properly.
Chiropractic is based on this exact principle. As long as the brain and the nervous system have complete communication with each other your body will function as it is supposed to. If one area of interference (subluxation) caused by an imbalanced muscle or a vertebrae out of alignment occurs, a disruption to this balance can cause all types of health problems.
It is my job as your Chiropractor to find this interference and remove it. This then re-establishes proper communication once again between the brain and the nervous system thus allowing the body to have full health.
As an Applied Kinesiologist I also evaluate the “Total Person Concept” or the “Triad of Health”, in relationship to the overall health of your body. The triad is composed of a structural, chemical and mental (brain) side which must all be working correctly and together for optimal health and wellness to be achieved. Applied Kinesiology does not exclude other diagnostic protocols when needed. It works in addition to these procedures.
It is within the “Triad of Health” concept (The Total Body) that I am able to balance the major health categories within your body. Applied Kinesiology enables me to direct therapy towards the imbalanced sides of the health triad. Manual muscle testing is utilized to find a muscle or muscles that are not functioning properly and are therefore unbalanced. Within the body there exit’s a muscle-organ/gland-nutrient-nerve relationship. By figuring out why a muscle or muscles are not functioning properly I am able to formulate a treatment that corrects these imbalances within your muscles.
The different therapies that I use to correct these imbalances include joint manipulation or mobilization, various myofascial therapies (muscular), cranial techniques, meridian therapy (acupressure), clinical nutrition, dietary management, lifestyle changes, exercise and various neurological reflex therapies.
What makes me so different is that by combining Chiropractic and Applied Kinesiology and working through the “Triad of Health”, I know and understand that all three sides are interactive with each other and must be evaluated for the underlying cause of a health problem. No other health practitioner “Traditional or Alternative” does this. A health problem on one side of the triad can affect the other two sides as well. For example a chemical (nutritional) imbalance can cause both structural and mental problems. A structural imbalance (ie. low back) can cause digestive and nutritional and even emotional problems. As an Applied Kinesiologist and Holistic Chiropractor I am able to find all these problems correct them using the protocols I discussed before and create a homeostatic balance within the parameters of the “Triad of Health”.
Manual muscle testing enables me to check health problems that become evident when a strong muscle goes weak. It also allows me to start with a weak muscle and see what appropriate therapies are needed to bring a weak muscle back to a strong one. There is a built in check and balance system that allows me to know when a correction has allowed someone’s health to improve or when more work is needed.
It takes years of practice to perfect the art of manual muscle testing, just as it takes 100’s of hours of study and testing to become a Certified Applied Kinesiologist.
