WHAT ACTUALLY IS CANDIDA?

There are actually fourteen strains of candida that a person can contract. The two most common are Candida Albicans and Candida Tropicalis. In our large intestine we have healthy and helpful bacteria, and very small amounts of candida, fungus, and molds. When everything is in balance in the large intestine, the small amounts of candida, fungus, and molds do not cause any health problems.

Each part of the digestive tract has a very specific ph. Some are acidic, some are alkaline and some are mid-range. The normal ph of the large intestine is in the acidic range. Unfortunately, several things cause the ph of the large intestine to go into the alkaline range. Antibiotics, hormone replacement, birth control pills, and the exchange of any body fluid with another person who already has candida. The overuse of antibiotics is probably the main cause of this change.

The longer the large intestine has remained in an alkaline environment.the more friendly it becomes to increasing candida, fungus, and mold overgrowth. It also becomes an unfriendly environment for the healthy and helpful bacteria, so the majority of those good bacteria die.

Since starting in practice over 37 years ago, I have seen a tremendous increase in the percentage of my patients who come to see me complaining of candida and its symptoms. Originally 30% of my patients had it, and now over 99% of my patients have candida. Yes, most people do get or have had candida. The good news is everyone can get rid of it and regain their health.
